Behavioral health conditions may lead to poorer oral health, making the connection between behavioral and oral health even more crucial. Speakers will discuss the National Network for Oral Health Access' (NNOHA) systems-level framework for implementing behavioral health and oral health integration as well as lessons from the field based on their work supporting health centers' efforts to integrate oral and behavioral health within their clinical setting.

Candace Hsu Owen, RDH, MS, MPH
Education Director
National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA)
Candace Hsu Owen is the Education Director for the National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA). She is a registered dental hygienist and has a Master in Public Health and a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of New Mexico (UNM). Her areas of expertise include interprofessional collaborative practice, oral health workforce, oral health equity, behavioral health integration, and increasing access to care for underserved populations.
With NNOHA, Candace develops educational resources for health care providers working safety net settings. These resources include national webinars, in-person training and technical assistance, learning collaboratives, and publications. Prior to NNOHA, Candace served as faculty at the UNM Department of Dental Medicine from 2013-2017, teaching dental residents and dental hygiene students. She also served as the clinical dental hygienist for a special needs dentistry clinic. Candace serves on the Board of Directors for Social Mission Alliance – an organization that promotes health equity in academia for health professions.
Candace lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband, 3-year-old daughter, and two dogs.

Ernest Meshack-Hart, DDS, FAGD

Terry Reilly Health Services
Ernest serves as Dental Director for Terry Reilly Health Services, a multi-site FQHC in SW Idaho. His previous roles include clinical and leadership positions in both private and public health group practice settings.
He is active in organized dentistry and serves on the Board of the National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA). Ernest is enthusiastic about the integrated interdisciplinary care delivery model. Working as part of a team to provide patient centered, holistic, high quality, cost-effective, and culturally sensitive healthcare.
He earned his D.D.S from the University of Detroit Mercy, with post graduate training from the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. He holds Fellowships with the Academy of General Dentistry and International College of Dentists.
Ernest enjoys time with family, books, the outdoors, movies, and airplanes.
